Historical Note

The Expanded Educational Opportunities program was a program of financial aid and supportive services. Through this program, Macalester College provided full-need scholarships each year for high school graduates from BIPOC communities who came from families who could not afford the tuition at a private college. The scholarships were for four years as long as the student was making satisfactory progress toward graduation.

The program lasted from 1969 until the late 70s, when budget cuts (protested by students during a 1974 sit-in at 77 Mac) led to its assimilation into the Office of Minority Affairs.
