Meister (A. Celeste) papers

Celeste A. Meister was born in Minneapolis on December 30, 1916. She received a B.A. in English, German, and Spanish Education from Macalester College in 1938, a B.S. in Library Science from the University of Minnesota in 1940, and an M.A. in English, German, and Philology and Linguistics from the University of Minnesota and the University of Michigan in 1941. Meister taught and worked as a librarian at high schools in Karlstand, Minnesota Highschool, New Castle, Virginia High School, Plainview, Minnesota High School, and was head librarian at Upper Iowa University in Fayette, Iowa. She was elected to honor societies at Macalester College and the University of Minnesota and received the President's Scholarship at Macalester for two years. In 1948, Meister joined the Macalester College faculty as an associate professor of English.
