Abstract James Wallace (1850–1939) was a scholar, educator, and president of Macalester College whose leadership shaped the institution’s early growth. A graduate of Wooster University, he joined Macalester in 1887 to teach Greek and Bible Studies, publishing a noted translation of Xenophon’s Anabasis.
